Platen Accessories

Standard Platens are precision lapped parallel, then hard anodized for maximum wear resistance. They are used with adhesive backed discs, double sided adhesive discs and disc holding bands, or when converting to a magnetic platen using magnetic bases.

Magnetic Platens combine a standard aluminum platen with a cross-hatched magnetic surface for maximum flatness and adherence. Only one platen is needed throughout the grinding and polishing process, allowing all magnetic system cloths/abrasive discs or ferromagnetic discs to be utilized.

Disc holding bands are made of anodized aluminum and secure plain back discs to a standard platen. A protrusion around the top of the band allows variable sized discs (± 3 mm) to be secured.

STANDARD

	Double-sided adhesive discs are used with a standard platen to adhere non-adhesive (plain) back abrasive discs to the platen.
	Disc holding bands are used to secure non-adhesive (plain) back abrasive discs for manual grinding applications. They feature a cut-out at the top edge to allow for use with discs having an OD larger than the platen and are adjustable (bent) for grip on the platen edge.
	Magnetic Bases adhere to standard platens, allowing magnetic system cloths/abrasive discs or ferromagnetic discs to be utilized.

MAGNETIC

	PTFE ferromagnetic support disc is used to adapt adhesive back discs to for use with a magnetic platen. Made of stainless steel for corrosion resistance, it features an anti-slip backing and lifting tabs around the edge. The PTFE surface prevents transfer of adhesive when discs are removed following use.
	Ferromagnetic adhesive discs are used with magnetic platens and feature a low-tack adhesive that allows application and release of plain back abrasive discs again and again. Double-sided adhesive discs can be purchased and reapplied for re-use of the ferromagnetic substrate.
	Ferromagnetic support disc is used to adapt adhesive back discs for use with a magnetic platen. Made of stainless steel for corrosion resistance, it features an anti-slip backing and lifting tabs around the edge.
