Ultrasonic cleaning is a very effective method to move debris regular washing can leave behind.
It is useful for cleaning samples prior to mounting to help improve adhesion and and following the polishing steps to remove debris from any open gaps or pores that could otherwise allow contamination of polishing cloths and leave behind scratches.
