Lapping Films

Lapping films are used for preparing unencapsulated (unmounted) samples on either the MultiPrep™ or OptiPrep™ systems.

They are available in several mineral types to choose from with either adhesive or non-adhesive (plain) backing. Non-adhesive films are best secured to smooth platens using water and a squeegee.  

Common benefit/feature of lapping film:

• Color coded for micron identification
• Film-backed, hard, non-compressible substrate for maximum flatness/coplanarity
• Recommended for polishing non-encapsulated samples, small components in the semiconductor, optical, medical industries for quantitative material removal
